Erkon Marin, marine electrical, automation and navigation service. At Coastal Safetyfor 23 years. Now on your ship.

We set up and ran the electrical-electronic workshop of Türkiye’s Directorate General of Coastal Safety and looked after every tug and SAR boat in its fleet. Today we do the same work for merchant ships, tugs and SAR boats. You can call us 24/7.

We find the fault by measuring.

We follow an alert on the alarm console through the drawings, all the way to the sensor in the plant. We don’t swap parts and hope: we measure first, then replace.

  • Sensors, pressure switches, governor control
  • BWTS and bow thruster controls

We put the generator back online.

In power management we work mostly with DEIF, Woodward and ABB systems. We trace faults in generator and synchronising panels, the main switchboard and circuit breakers, and service them, governor and AVR settings included.

  • Power management (PMS): DEIF, Woodward, ABB
  • Air and moulded-case circuit breakers (ACB / MCCB)

We build the panel from scratch.

Tell us clearly what you need: we build the panel from scratch, write the PLC software and commission it with its drives. It might run a boiler, navigation lights or an alarm system, with SCADA monitoring and control where needed.

  • Siemens and other PLCs, with the software
  • Variable speed drives (VSD)
  • Operator panels (HMI) and SCADA

About us

We started on ship electrics in 1988 in the electronics repair team of D.B. Deniz Nakliyat. What began with repairing radars and gyros grew into looking after a whole fleet of tugs and SAR boats at Coastal Safety, and today into automation and switchboard work on merchant ships.

Our professional journey

  1. 1988

    D.B. Deniz Nakliyat T.A.Ş.

Our professional journey began in 1988 in the electronics repair team of D.B. Deniz Nakliyat T.A.Ş., one of Türkiye’s most established maritime institutions.

During this period, we repaired, maintained, installed and removed a wide range of navigation and communication systems. These included:

radar, gyro, autopilot, VHF radio and various bridge equipment from brands such as Raytheon, Kelvin Hughes, Sperry, Decca, Furuno, Sailor, JRC and Gylot.

  2. 2000

    Directorate General of Coastal Safety

Building on this broad experience, in 2000 we moved to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety and set up its first Electrical-Electronic Repair Team and workshop. We ran the workshop for 23 years, until 2023: we organised the work and trained electrical officers for the institution’s ships.

In those 23 years we carried out fault diagnosis and maintenance on the electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and automation systems of every tug and SAR boat, floating crane and other vessel in the institution’s fleet, and worked on setting up its shore stations.

We also handled fault diagnosis and maintenance of main engines and auxiliary engines (generators/DG).

What we do

Anything electrical on board: in the engine room, on the bridge and on deck.

Main Engine

Ana Makine

The electrical and automation side of the main engine: sensors, pressure switches, governor control, ME and pitch control systems, alarm monitoring. We work on Sulzer, MaK, Hyundai, Caterpillar, MTU and Yamaha engines.

Auxiliary Engine / D/G

Yardımcı Makine

Generator sensors, governor and AVR control, synchronising, the main switchboard and circuit breakers. In power management we work mostly with DEIF, Woodward and ABB systems.

Navigation Systems

Seyir Sistemleri

Fault finding, maintenance, installation and removal of radar, gyro, autopilot, VHF and GMDSS equipment. We work with Furuno, JRC, Raytheon, Kelvin Hughes and many other international makers.

Tugs & Search and Rescue Boats

Römorkör ve SAR Botları

Towing winches and windlasses, Voith and Schottel drives, water jets, and their electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. We worked on all of them for 23 years in the Coastal Safety fleet.

Send us the ship’s name, the port and a description of the fault; we’ll plan the team and the parts.

The fault finders
build panels too.

Erkon Marin is a core team of three, and we bring in more hands when the job calls for it. The same people do the maintenance, the installation and the removal, so you don’t need one firm for the wiring and another for the PLC software.

  1. Fault diagnosis

If the ship has its electrical and electronic drawings and spare parts to hand, we find the fault much faster and fix it for good.

    Delivered: Diagnosis and repair report

  2. Maintenance

On the schedule you choose: ACB servicing, insulation (megger) testing, thermal imaging, generator AVR and synchronising checks, preparation before a survey.

    Delivered: Maintenance record and recommendations

  3. Installation

We fit the new radar, sensor or panel, do the wiring, test it and commission it.

    Delivered: Commissioning test results

  4. Removal

You can ask for removal on its own or as the step before a new unit goes in. Every cable we disconnect is labelled.

    Delivered: Removal and labelling documentation

Real work, from the field.

A few of our jobs, with the ships’ names. We post the details on our LinkedIn page.

  1. M/V Defne

    Emergency (harbour) generator fault

    ABB SYNPOL D PMS

Following detailed fault diagnostics and system analysis, the generator was restored to safe and stable operation.

    Also on board

    Navigation light panel board failure

The board failure in the navigation light control panel was diagnosed and repaired; the navigation lights are back in safe, continuous operation.

  2. M/V EFES

Bow thruster step control and BWTS faults

    Bow Thruster · Techcross BWTS

The faults on the bow thruster step control system and the ballast water treatment system were diagnosed and rectified. Both systems were tested and returned to normal operation.

When we can be on board

This is how we plan the job once you call or send the form.

  • Phone open 24/7

Call at night or at the weekend. If we miss your call, we ring back as soon as we can.

  • Istanbul in 1.5–2 hours

Give us at least 24 hours’ notice and we will be ready to reach the ship within 1.5–2 hours anywhere in Istanbul.

  • Across Türkiye and abroad

We also go to ports outside Istanbul and to ships abroad.

  • At anchor or in transit

The ship’s operator arranges the boat out and the official paperwork; we prepare the team and the parts.

Describe the fault, we’ll bring the right parts.

Give us the ship’s name, the port, the system and the maker; send the alarm code and a photo of the panel on WhatsApp if you have them. The fuller the description, the better the parts and instruments we bring aboard.
